How they match up
The last time: Arizona held Baylor to 25.9% shooting in the first half and took leads of up to 27 points early in the second half before letting up down the stretch in a 81-70 win over Baylor at McKale Center on Jan. 14. UA forward Henri Veesaar scored a career-high 19 points on 9-for-11 shooting and had seven rebounds to lead the Wildcats in both scoring and rebounding. Guard Robert Wright had 16 points and four assists to lead the Bears.
Series history: The Wildcats’ win last month gave them a 6-5 lead in the series and stopped a two-game losing streak dating back to a 58-49 loss at McKale in 2018-19 at McKale and a 63-58 loss in 2019-20 at Waco.
What’s new with the Bears: Just when injury plagued Baylor received guards VJ Edgecombe and Langston Love back from injuries on Feb. 8 against UCF, center Josh Ojianwuna was lost to a season-ending knee injury five minutes into that game. Baylor wound up beating UCF but lost at Houston on Feb. 10 and then hung on to beat West Virginia 74-71 in overtime on Saturday in Waco.
Ojianwuna’s loss has prompted Baylor to go with four perimeter players around big man Norchad Omier, who has averaged 36.3 minutes in Baylor’s past three games. Sometimes using a five-out lineup, Baylor played only seven players on Saturday against the Mountaineers despite the overtime game, with Love and Edgecombe both playing over 40 minutes. Baylor started former Cal wing Jalen Celestine and coach Scott Drew said they would stick with that lineup if they kept winning.
Baylor is 5-4 since facing ÃÛÌÒÓ°ÏñAV on Jan. 14, having beaten Kansas State, Utah, Kansas, UCF and West Virginia while losing to TCU, BYU, Texas Tech and Houston.

Arizona forward Tobe Awaka (30) tries to get a rebound between /b30/, left, and guard VJ Edgecombe (7) during the first half of their Big 12 game, Tucson, Ariz., January 14 2025.
In Big 12 games, Baylor ranks fourth in 3-point percentage shooting (34.2) and second in free-throw percentage shooting (79.1), though the Bears slipped to seventh in offensive rebounding (11.1) after collecting only four at Houston.
Overall this season, Baylor ranks No. 12 in overall offensive efficiency while running a below-average tempo. The Bears rank 26th best in offensive rebounding percentage (35.6).
Key players
Baylor – V.J. Edgecombe
Back from an ankle injury, the Bears’ Bahamian projected lottery pick is needed more than ever to produce in their compromised lineup. He missed all five 3s he took Saturday against West Virginia but had seven points, eight rebounds and six assists. He had 14 points and seven rebounds against Arizona last month.
Arizona — Jaden Bradley
Averaging 37.2 minutes in Big 12 games, Bradley was notably less efficient in the Wildcats’ past two losses. He had five turnovers at Kansas State, including an intercepted inbounds pass in the final seconds, and had just four points on Saturday against Houston.

Sidelines
Splashed Bros
After shooting a collective 7 for 45 (15.6%) from 3-point range over their current two-game losing streak, the Wildcats now rank 299 out of 364 Division I teams with a 3-point shooting percentage of 31.3%.
Asked how he approaches that stat as a coach, Lloyd said it was about players needing to focus on taking only good shots, then live with the make or miss that results.
“And obviously, guys, it's no secret… we're not the best 3-point shooting team you've ever seen,†Lloyd added. “This is not the 2017 Golden State Warriors. We're a gritty team and it's a little bit ugly sometimes. But that's just how we ended up being built and we're OK with it. We've won a lot of games doing that.â€
Heavy lifters
While UA guards Caleb Love and Jaden Bradley have both averaged more than 36 minutes in Big 12 games, Baylor has also been squeezing every ounce of its key guys lately.
In the two games since Ojianwuna was lost for the season, one of which was a 45-minute overtime game, wing VJ Edgecombe has averaged 39 minutes and Langston Love has averaged 38.5—while even big man Norchad Omier logged an average of 36.5
But, when asked about the grind Saturday after Baylor’s win over West Virginia, Omier wasn’t complaining.
“I'm just happy that we get to play. We don’t got to play basketball. We get to play basketball,†Omier said. “Grinding and getting the right outcome feels so good. So it’s a blessing to be able to grind.â€
