No. 17 Arizona defeated ASU 5-3 Tuesday night at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
The win was the Wildcats' fourth in a row and gave them a season split (2-2) against the Sun Devils.
Heading into the game, UA center fielder Brendan Summerhill juiced up the rivalry matchup by saying: “We want to score 100 and give up zero."
Arizona took a 4-0 lead via home runs by TJ Adams, Mason White and Andrew Cain — three in-state products. Adams' solo shot in the third inning was the first of his collegiate career. He and Cain both went 3 for 4. White was 2 for 5.

The Wildcats added another run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Summerhill, who went 1 for 2 with a double and two walks.
Arizona led 5-1 entering the bottom of the eighth inning. Matthew Martinez and Anthony "Tonko" Susac each gave up a run, but Susac retired the final three batters he faced (two via strikeout) to end the game and secure his second save.
Casey Hintz, one of nine UA pitchers to take the mound Tuesday, was credited with the win after pitching 1â…” scoreless innings. Hintz got out of two jams via double plays.
Arizona (30-17, 17-7 Pac-12) visits Utah this weekend, with 10 a.m. MST first pitches Friday and Saturday. The Utes (30-16, 15-9) trail the Wildcats by two games in the conference standings.
