Arizona football announced on Tuesday the addition of Tobruk Blaine as the program's director of player development.Â
Blaine joins the UA football program after serving as the assistant athletic director for student-athlete development and "Beyond Football Coordinator" at San Jose State, where first-year Arizona head coach Brent Brennan coached for seven seasons. Blaine was at SJSU during the entirety of Brennan's tenure.Â
At San Jose State, Blaine was responsible for "enhancing the lives of football student-athletes" and contributing to Beyond Sparta, a program at San Jose State where "student-athletes develop career-focused proficiencies and cultivate knowledge, relationships and skills necessary to establish a successful personal and professional life beyond the game of football," according to .
Prior to San Jose State, Blaine was a high school and college cheerleading coach in Idaho and at Boise State. According to Blaine's bio at San Jose State, "she annually raised more than double the program's annual operating budget to support the university's cheerleading, dance and mascot's program activities" at Boise State.

Blaine is the latest SJSU staffer to join Brennan at Arizona, along with running backs coach Alonzo Carter, offensive line coach Josh Oglesby, tight ends coach Matt Adkins, defensive line coach Joe Seumalo, cornerbacks coach Chip Viney, strength and conditioning coach Cullen Carroll and chief of staff Ben Thienes. Â
Arizona kicks off the 2024 season against New Mexico on Aug. 31 in Tucson.Â
