Founded just this year, An Unuzual Market has quickly become a favorite for Tucsonans.

Once a month, a vibrant celebration of creativity takes over the heart of Tucson.

It's called , a bustling event that brings together a diverse group of unique artists, crafters and visionaries to showcase and sell their work and connect with the community. The next market is Saturday, Feb. 1.

Founded just this year, An Unuzual Market has quickly become a favorite for Tucsonans. What sets this market apart is its emphasis on originality and the unusual art that makes these vendors stick out at traditional markets.

“The goal is to create a space where the unusual is celebrated,” said founder and organizer, Zully Alexandra. “We want to offer an alternative to the usual cookie-cutter marketplace. Every vendor here has something that is a reflection of their individuality and we want that to shine through.”

Each monthly market showcases an eclectic array of goods, from one-of-a-kind insect taxidermy and handmade clothing to bespoke furniture and original art that’s a little bit “creepier and doesn’t always fit into all the markets that are going on around town,” Alexandra added. An Unuzual Market is a space that invites innovation, creativity and self-expression.

“These markets are definitely, I think, a need in Tucson,” Alexandra said. “There are so many vendors that just do not fit in, so I'm really excited to create a space where they can sell their art alongside other like-minded unusual artists.”

Each vendor has a distinct story behind their work and each market will feature different vendors due to the large amount of interest and limited space at each event.

“One of the upcoming vendors uses recycled doll parts to create new art.
He basically will take all sorts of different dolls, like a music box ballerina and he puts a chicken skull on it and chicken arm bones and a little dress. It’s really unique art,” Alexandra said.

Zully Alexandra is the founder and organizer of An Unuzual Market.

What truly sets An Unuzual Market apart, however, is its dedication to community.

It’s not just about shopping — it’s about building relationships. Visitors come not only to buy handmade items, but also to connect with the creators behind them as well as support a local nonprofit.

Each month’s market has a $1 cash entry, with proceeds benefiting a local nonprofit with aims to highlight the local community and share support. Alexandra has plans to host nine markets every year, taking a break in the hotter months.

Musicians and food trucks add to the vibrant atmosphere, turning each Unuzual Market into a mini festival. Local DJs will play music throughout the market and since the markets are planned to run from 11 a.m. through the evening, multiple musicians will be featured.

“I could just go on and on about the amazing art and vendors that will be featured each month,” Alexandra said. “We actually have vendors coming from Phoenix now, which is amazing because I used to go to Phoenix to do all their markets.”

The markets are only growing, Alexandra added. Plans are in the works to expand the market’s reach, bringing in more artists from outside Tucson, as well as hosting workshops and collaborative events to further foster the creative community.

In the meantime, the next Unuzual Market is just around the corner on Feb. 1 from 11 am to 6 p.m. at the Coalition Space,  Whether you're in search of a new piece of art, a unique gift or simply a fun way to spend an afternoon, An Unuzual Market offers an experience that’s anything but ordinary.

So mark your calendars, bring your friends and get ready to immerse yourself in the world of the Unuzual. The artists, the makers and the community await.
