The 200-plus participants for Big 12 Pro Day at The Star in Frisco, Texas, were unveiled on Thursday — and one notable name was missing.
Former Arizona wide receiver and projected first-round pick Tetairoa McMillan wasn’t listed in Arizona’s group of representatives at Big 12 Pro Day, a multi-day event for draft-eligible players from the Big 12 to work out and meet with NFL scouts and coaches.
McMillan, who could become the highest-selected Wildcat in NFL Draft history, also didn’t participate in the physical drills at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis two weeks ago.
McMillan wasn’t the only projected first-rounder to opt out of the NFL Scouting Combine drills. Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Colorado’s Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, Miami quarterback Cam Ward, Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, Georgia defensive end Jalon Walker and Ole Miss defensive lineman Walter Nolen also didn’t perform the drills at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Sanders and Hunter are on the list of participants at Big 12 Pro Day. Former Arizona State running back Cameron Skattebo, who was at the NFL Scouting Combine, won’t attend Big 12 Pro Day.
Even though McMillan’s physical skillset wasn’t on display at the NFL Scouting Combine, he posted a “superior score†for the AIQ, a cognitive test to measure intellectual abilities and awareness.
Dr. Scott Goldman, the co-creator of AIQ, said McMillan, who finished his Arizona career with the most career receiving yards in program history, “had one of the top wide receiver scores we received in our (all-time) database.â€
McMillan’s AIQ report said his “cognitive abilities position him as a standout player with the potential to excel in various offensive schemes.â€
“His superior scores in acquisition, decision-making and reaction time make him a highly valuable wide receiver, capable of executing complex plays and adjusting to defensive strategies,†the report said. “His strengths in multiple target search and spatial awareness further enhance his effectiveness in identifying key cues and maintaining proper positioning.â€
Despite McMillan likely not having an official 40-yard dash time leading up to the NFL Draft, the former Wildcat has the option to hold private workouts for NFL scouts.
During his media availability at the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6-5, 212-pound McMillan said, “I’m physically dominant, but at the end of the day, I’m able to run every route in the route tree, I’m able to play inside or outside and I feel like a lot of people and a lot of teams are sleeping on me right now.â€
Added McMillan: “The most underrated part of my game, I feel like my explosiveness. I feel like people sleep on my ability with the ball in my hands. Everyone knows about my 50-50 balls and my catch radius, but I feel like getting out of my breaks as a bigger receiver is good.â€
McMillan has met with several NFL teams, including the New England Patriots, New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys and the Las Vegas Raiders, which recently hired former UA offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll, the son of Raiders head coach Pete Carroll.
The Patriots have the fourth pick in the NFL Draft; the Raiders are sixth, the Jets are seventh, the Saints are ninth and the Cowboys have the No. 12 overall pick in the first round of the NFL Draft. ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. to the Los Angeles Chargers.
